aXiom of lOve is a compelling novel game where the player takes on the role of a lonely Eldritch horror bewitched by the beauty of Veena, the love interest. Our protagonist must navigate the social environment of the party and learn about Veena's key interests in order to secure her affections and recieve the good ending.

Game Design Documentation-->

aXion of lOve was developed by our team of 5 using a large scope of tools. Google docs and discord were both used heavily for inital GDD, Trello was used largely to track and assign tasks during the project as pictured on the left. We used a Unity plugin called YarnSpinner to collate dialogue and allow for easier implementation.

This was perhaps the most difficult Jam for me to participate in so far as everyone else was locally in the same place in America and had in person team meetings which naturally I wasn't able to attend. This led to a lot of information being communicated verbally that was not represented in documentation and as such I was flying blind a lot of the time. Recognising this early doors, I decided to work on the minigames that occur throughout the story which give hints as to the correct items that the player should choose on successfull completion. I designed these games so that they could be easily plugged into the story where and when they are needed.

I designed each of the minigames above to be activated using a single line of code and to only require 1 Canvas game object and 1 manager game object per minigame as seen to the right. This allowed for rapid integration to the main story in the final hours of the jam.

These minigames are designed to give hints. To add more depth to the story and enhance the feel of the game, I decided to write poems to give these hints such as the one pictured to the left.
